Have you thought about NON_FICTION books?????

I love especially arty type books with lots of PHOTOS so here goes...

A Walk Across England by Richard Long

This is a fabulous book where an artist (Richard Long) walks across England from the west coast to the east. He carried a pebble from the beach all the way with him and left it on the beach at the end of his walk. His poem goes...

I went down to the sea to start
A walk across England as art
Along lanes past flowers
In sunshine and showers
Carrying a stone each day close to my heart.

Photos are on each page, starting with the view from his tent, following a cow, crossing the first river, stung by nettles, peeing in the middle of the road (oops) etc.
It's in the Library at 759.2. If you like the smell of new mown hay, (without getting hay fever) this book is hiding in our library waiting to be found.

I haven't read many 'true' books as I prefer an element of the fantasy. Although, what can be defined as 'true' is questionable. Autobiographies are said to be real but how do we know that? We have to suspend all disbelief and enter the world with a clear and open mind.

I have read a few autobiographies because I covered this area in my dissertation at university. Frank Skinner's was one that is equally funny and tragic.

Has anyone read anything they were inspired by?

Now, as much as I like the world of celebrity it would take a great deal to encourage me to read an autobiography by Mr Clarkson. He comes across as dry and quite dull on tv. What would make me want to read this book?

You would have to be intrested in machines as it is about them. I think clarkson is a person who you either love or hate.

I am not a huge fan of non-fiction books. Fiction on the other hand...
