| I adore both American and British Literature but because you have posed the question when I am reading Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit at the moment I would have to say British. Jeanette Winterson is a brilliant author. She manages to bring together the real and imaginary in what is called her metafiction. It deals with sexuality and growing up in a religious environment. It is a tender tale, which I adore. However, if you ask me in three weeks when I start The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath I would say that because she is a dark and somewhat introverted writer that explores quite deep themes. Both is my conclusion! |
